I post on Quora (you can find my answers here). The question in the title attracted my attention because this is something I am trying to figure out (my take on it is here). But it’s Rosalyn’s answer (right) that blew my mind away.
She made 3 points about dealing with negative people (NP) which instantly resonated:
- Stop focusing on the NP.
- It takes self love and acceptance to not react.
- Life is too short to struggle with people.
And just like that a seismic mind shift took place and I felt a bit lighter (aka liberated). Can I deal calmly with my brother when I see him next? I don’t know. But I am definitely going to work on this whole self love thing.
Life is too short to struggle with people.
it is an ongoing struggle and good to find your balance when you can

I tend to distance myself from negative people. It helps me “block out the noise”.

Similarly! But in some cases you have no choice but to face them.
