The Egg – a beautiful story by Andy Weir

A friend’s partner lost her dad to covid recently and he asked us for resources on grieving. Among other resources, I found this beautiful story by Andy Weir about death, after death, God and reality. The animated version is above.

A part of my psilocybin trip had similar themes, just that “God” was non dual, an omnipresent quantum field. I saw that I was all of it – Hitler, Stalin, the evil, but also Jane Austen, Vladimir Mayakovski (my literary heroes), the light, and that I literally could be anyone and likely already had been them before. A very strange feeling…

When I was 10 or so, I spent lots of time alone, lying under the cherry trees staring at the sun through a mosaic of leaves. I wondered about the world and reality and concluded that we were all angels in the school on Earth going through a curriculum. I told my parents, they thought I was weird and told me not to tell anyone 😊
