Inner Child Healing. Recommended books.

Over the next couple of weeks I will share what I’ve been working on last year. Inner child healing.

This series of posts might be of interest to those who experienced trauma*, physical and/or emotional abuse and/or neglect as a child. If as an adult, you are prone to anger/ rage episodes, being easily startled and having many fears, sensitivity to noises, repeated unhealthy patterns in relationships, addictions of all sorts or other unwanted behaviours that you can not explain logically, I invite you to face and explore the circumstances of your upbringing.

Let’s begin with this TikTok and recommended books to learn more. I’ve read books #2 and #3 as well as the classical Home Coming. Reclaiming and Championing Your Inner Child by John Bradshaw. Personally, I found L.C. Gibson’s book the most helpful, then John Bradshaw’s, and Van Der Kolk’s book was great on the subject of trauma overall.

I can also recommend books by Gabor Maté on trauma and addiction such as In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts. I’ve heard a lot about Dan Siegel, he appears to offer video courses, but have not had a chance to read his books or take his courses.

* Please note trauma may not be yours as such, but rather intergenerational, passed down by your ancestors.
