The true meaning of success (Yogananda)

Success can only be measured

by the extent that you have inner peace and mental control

that enable you to be happy

in all circumstances.

— Yogananda

This talk was exactly what I needed to hear as I navigate a career change. My main takeaways are below, but the biggest learning is the quote above which I took liberty to turn into a poem.

  • Success is that you are here, interested in the teachings, learning them on your path to God.
  • You can’t be successful if you are thinking negative thoughts. Think positively, think success.
  • Success is not about you, but helping others.
  • Fear exhausts willpower.
  • Worry is a mild form of fear.
  • Change = pain + effort but also joy of seeing that we are changing for the better.
  • Transfer your attention from failure to success.
