I have been quiet for a bit. I had a very Mad Men’esque exit from my agency job, so that took some time and energy. The good news is I am very happy, I am at home, and not starting a new job for another couple of weeks, which means I’ll be able to actually catch up on what’s important – family, friends, art, film, house, life. I will actually be able to enjoy spring, and not from inside of the office building. Ah, life!
I am sitting in the sun lit balcony now, surrounded by a weird collection of edible and decorative plants that have suddenly made an appearance in my home (thank you, prankster friends!), watching the flat on the right getting cleared. It’s not a spring clean. A recluse neighbour (army vet with an alcohol problem) died there in March, and his body lay undiscovered for 2 weeks. He lived just across the wall from us and my husband talked to him now and then, so we were very shaken by his death.
It reminds me of what’s important. Life is fleeting. Are you happy, right now, right here? Or are you working yourself into the ground? Try and make time not just for earning a living but actually living. Spring only happens once a year.
