Happiness: Surviving The Negativity Tornado

I had a really stressful week. I had to deal with some deeply unconscious, ego driven people who completely forgot they were mortal. There was no way around it, and I was not intending to let negativity take over me, so I got prepared. Here is a checklist I kept in front of me throughout the meeting. If you have a negative meeting or experience that you can not avoid, perhaps these will help you.

  • Stay aware
  • Do not resist, flow
  • Remember – this, too, shall pass
  • Give generously what you want to receive
  • Random act of kindness

The last 2 are my new finds, from reading ‘New Earth’ and online research, I find these extremely helpful. Number 4 – if you want to receive love and admiration but are not getting it back, do not wait for it. Start giving it to whoever you want to receive it from. Give generously. See what happens.

Number 5 – whenever you had a negative experience, as in someone was too tough with you or overly critical or said something not nice or yelled at you, and you feel like you are obsessing about it, reliving the experience and can’t leave the resulting negative energy behind, immediately after such experience commit a random act of kindness. I donated to the Ocean Clean Up Project. This one works, alright! Trust me.

If you can’t avoid negativity, go into it fully present, with the positive attitude and mindset, and counteract negative energy bombardment with positive actions afterwards.
