Uell Andersen proposes we go on the mental diet in his Three Magic Words. For 30 days, “you are not to accept a single negative thought nor dwell on a single negative premise.” He suggests to start by noticing and writing down any negative thoughts of doubt, jealousy, anger, sadness, worry, etc. (kleshas in Buddhism) for a couple of days (it is a very revealing and shocking experience).
Then, whenever we notice a negative thought, we replace it with a positive one. We choose to think “better” thoughts instead. For example, if I am worried about a work project, instead of falling into a rabbit hole of catastrophic thoughts on the loop, once a worry arises, I notice it and instead imagine a positive outcome. I don’t just imagine it mentally, I FEEL the positive outcome viscerally. I embody it. I reject all possible negative variants and BECOME a positive outcome.
It is a transformative practice. You are basically manifesting in real time. You learn to curate your thoughts. You choose and teach yourself “to accept only good.”
