“You wake up completely when you rest and do nothing at all.”

Without trying to reshape it in any way, rest in what you experience right now… Just let things be—don’t change anything at all.

Resting is not just physical resting. It includes letting the heart rest—letting ourselves feel all the different emotions surging within us and not try to resolve them. Resting includes letting our minds rest, too—letting the stream of thoughts and stories play itself out.

Resting helps to create the conditions in which emotional reactivity can resolve itself—leading to a refinement of energy in the whole system. It also allows energy channels to open so that energy can circulate smoothly.

For some, their path lies in learning how to develop and focus attention. For others, it lies in discovering how to relax and open. Some people need to learn how to stand in the face of their patterns and cut through them. Others need to learn how to let things unfold on their own.

The greatest challenge is to develop the willingness, skills and capacity to be able to rest and do nothing at all.
