Hieronymous Bosch’s “Garden of Earthly Delights” — reimagined (birds)

It has been a while since I posted about art here. There is a reason for that. It takes me years to complete an art project 🙂  This one definitely took a while… I love H. Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights:

…and specifically birds:

There is an explanation somewhere online what the birds mean in Bosch’s context — basically, sin. His whole painting appears to be about different type of sin and resulting punishment. If only he knew they are mini dinosaurs! But for me, in the modern context, birds are cool. And I thought these birds looked cute. I felt sad for them and I wanted to put them in a more cheerful environment. An artist did this quick reimagined painting for me:

Cute, right? The idea was to put them onto a fun art background, together in one painting, and let them do something fun. I can’t paint so I thought I’d get individual portraits and combine them. I went on Etsy and researched and collected paintings of these birds, one by one, by different artists. They are not a perfect match, but (especially duck) look like they are having more fun!
