“Dying to be me” by Anita Moorjani #book #psychedelics

I discovered Wayne Dyer through Kamal Ravikant. I discovered Anita Moorjani through Wayne Dyer. Synchronicity at work 😊

I’ve read Anita’s book in a day. It reads like a mantra and like something you forgot you knew. Her Near Death Experience, like all NDEs, may be an objective experience or a subjective mind-driven storytelling – we do not know. However, what always fascinates me about NDEs is how similar they are to a psychedelic trip.

What’s even more fascinating is what Anita learned about life and reality having journeyed to “the other side”. A lot of ideas in her book echo what I have went or am going through post-psilocybin and insight she arrives at is in line with my latest realisations – the importance of self-love and joy in particular. Anita also talks about how critical it is being true to oneself. You don’t serve God, don’t fulfil your life purpose if you are not being who you truly are.

I’ve nodded through the entire book and had several goosebump realisation moments. I don’t feel like I’ve learned anything new, but I have definitely felt reassured that I am on the right path. Here are 3 quotes that I selected out of many which I believe reflect some of the key ideas in the book.

I just had to be myself and enjoy life, and to allow myself to be an instrument for something much greater to take place… I wouldn’t have to pursue anything or work at figuring out how I was going to achieve that. I simply had to allow it to unfold.

I knew that was really the only purpose of life: to be our self, live our truth, and be the love that we are.

I discovered that when my life seems directionless and I feel lost (which still happens to me frequently), what it really means is that I’ve lost my sense of self.

  2. Interesting. How ever often one reads the same thing if it is beautifully written and on a subject which interests you it can give great joy.
