It’s only this year that I learned that Feb 14 is Parinirvana day, the day when the Buddha died. I will quote London Buddhist Centre:
Parinirvana day is the celebration of the final passing of the Buddha, which gives us an opportunity not just to reflect upon the serene dignity of that remarkable event, and on impermanence, but also to rejoice in the Buddha’s life. Even today, almost 6,000 miles from his birthplace, we still feel the benefit of his peerless example and his unparalleled gift: forty-five years of tireless teaching.
I will celebrate by watching the below documentary about his life (US readers, you can google a PBS documentary). If you want to watch only the part about his death, watch from 1:39:25. Let’s be kind and compassionate, let’s strive to understand and love ourselves and others, let’s find happiness through helping others. Have a nice day!
