I’ve recently finished a scifi script, created a beautiful bowtie necklace and made a ringtone. Making things is therapeutic and amazing. My new ringtone based on this video by my favourite comedian Louis CK keeps cheering me up throughout the day and especially on morning commutes. This is how you do it.
First of all, if you are an iPhone user and your audio file is on iTunes, creating a ringtone will be very easy. Here is a simple guide or a video guide. There is a similar way of doing it on Android, just google it.
If however like me, you’d rather use Youtube material (I am an iPhone user), then you will need to go through several steps. First, you need to turn a YouTube video into mp3. This is just one tool, I googled, found more, and used the one that seemed more fitting. Second, you edit the mp3 to a desired length in the audio/ video editing software. I use Sony Vegas but there are plenty of free editors online, again, goole. Third, you rename the file extension from .m4a to .m4r. Fourth, put the file on your phone, see step 7 here.
Feel like a massive lifehacker? 🙂 Enjoy!
