Dutch Expressions For The Cinema Goer

I am a big fan of movies, always was. I unleash my movie related wisdom on my twitter account so you have been spared 🙂  Movies have that power to transfer you to an alternative universe and make you feel happy or ponder some complex issues or wonder about your life.

Unfortunately, there have not been many good, smart, life affirming movies released recently. And I get access to less world independent cinema in Europe in general. I miss watching Asian movies and Asian sense of humour…

In London, I used to frequent Barbican and ICA, I am yet to find out what is what here. I did run into Eye Film and they feature movies in English. My next film on the list is Frances Ha with wonderful Adam Driver (ahh, HBO’s Girls…).

Eye Film have this amazing list of useful Dutch expressions for the cinema-goer. Number 4, lol 🙂

‘Kom je hier vaak?’ Come here often?
‘Zet je mobiel uit!’ Turn your mobile phone off!
‘Mag ik een pilsje?’ Can I have a beer?
‘Zullen wij vrijen op de achterste rij?’ Shall we make out in the back row?
‘Waar zijn de toiletten?’ Where are the toilets?
‘Mag ik mijn geld terug?’ Could I have my money back?
‘Tot hoe laat gaat de pont?’ How late does the ferry run?
